5 Strategies to Get More Webinar Attendees

5-Strategies-to-Get-More-Webinar-Attendees

After countless hours of research and thought, you’ve developed the perfect webinar. You honed in on your ideal customer, and figured out their pain points. You painstakingly created an amazing presentation, and filmed your heart out until it was perfect. Now, what do you do when your webinar is recorded and ready to share? Below we’ve got 5 strategies to help you get more webinar attendees, increase webinar engagement, and as a result bring in more leads and sales.

First, Get Some Bait to Hook Your Audience

Before we get to the meat and potatoes of how to promote your webinar, it’s important to point out that your messaging needs the right bait to hook your audience. Without it, no amount of promotion will be enough to trigger a signup.

Just a few ideas for bait include, but are not limited to:

  • Offering a free gift or special offer for attending
  • Sharing exactly what will be in the webinar
    • i.e. focus on their problem and how the webinar can give them a solution
  • Using emotional words in your messaging that trigger urgency like “limited time,” “act now,” “special engagement,” or “hurry.”
  • Mentioning a giveaway for people who attend live
    • This is different than the free gift because only one, two, or a handful of people will win this.
    • You can use it as a way to increase webinar engagement by limiting eligibility to people that commented and interacted during the presentation

The most important thing to remember in terms of getting your audience on the hook, is that they want to know what’s in it for them. Once you’ve established this however, the question is how can you get the word out and increase signups? We’ve got you covered, so let’s dive right in!

5 Things You Can Do to Increase Webinar Attendee Numbers

  • Bait-Your-AudienceBlog it out
  • Get social
  • Use the email list you already have
  • Borrow other people’s lists
  • Buy ads

Now that you know the 5 things you can do, let’s break them down further so you fully understand the best ways to get more signups for your sales webinar.

Write Blog Posts About Your Sales Webinar On Your Website

One of the first spots you should begin promoting your webinar is your own website. Write an article explaining what the webinar is about, and what attendees will get out of showing up to it.

Your post should include things like:

  • Any giveaways or freebies they can look forward to
  • A spotlight on any special guests that will be on your webinar
  • Some background on who you are, and why you’re an expert on what you’re presenting
  • Most importantly, a link to register for the event

What it should not include however, is the date and time of the event. Using webinar recording software allows you to share the webinar multiple times, so this post should not lock you into one event. Instead, simply say something along the lines of “This webinar will only be available for a limited time, so register today!” Then, link to your signup page.

While you’re at it, you could also add a pop-up to your website for the webinar. If that feels too spammy to you, another option would be to include a mention of it along with a link to the signup page in your header, footer, sidebar, or as a call to action in other blog posts you have written.

Get Social – With Social Media That Is

social-iconsSocial media is a fabulous and FREE way to promote your webinar. Take full advantage of platforms like LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram to get the word out. Here are some simple ideas you can use to share your webinar news on social media:

  • Do a Facebook Live or Instagram Story about the webinar
    • Include some of the tips you’ll be sharing in your sales webinar, and/or mention giveaways and freebies you’ll be offering
    • If someone will be co-hosting the webinar with you – get them on board for a joint live video. Tag their pages and have them share it on their profiles as well
  • Break out pieces of the recorded webinar into small teaser videos and share across all platforms
    • The description section for your post should include a link for signups
  • Share images with text overlays quoting key points of the webinar
    • Use the caption area for your signups link
  • Create a Facebook event for your webinar
    • Again, don’t lock yourself into one date and time. With Facebook events, you can set it up as a recurring event or one that continues for several days/weeks/months
  • Get involved in Facebook and LinkedIn groups that allow you to share the news of what you’re up to in your company, and use those posts to mention your free online event
    • Side note about this: Make sure you read the rules for any groups you’re in. You don’t want to get kicked out or banned for spam or unwelcome links
  • Use your bio area of your social media profiles to link to the signup page for your sales webinar with a short description of what will be shared in the presentation
  • When sharing anything on social media about your webinar, add your own comments with links to the signup page
  • Ask friends, family, and followers to share your posts with people they think would enjoy or benefit from the webinar

Utilize Your Own Email List to Spread the Word

Hopefully, you’ve been building an email list for your online business. If not, there’s no time like the present to start! Then any time you have news to share, you should use that list as a way to start spreading the word. Make sure to include a request for your recipients to forward the email to anyone they think would benefit from your presentation. Simply asking people to do something can often lead to them doing just that.

You can use a lot of the same verbiage from your blog post and social media updates too. There’s no need to create brandnew copy from scratch every time you want to share information about your upcoming webinar. Simply reword and rework the text to fit the needs of the platform you’re sharing the news on.

Borrow Other People’s Lists

How can you borrow other people’s lists? Write guest posts for their blogs, be a guest on their podcasts, co-host Facebook Live videos with them, jump on their webinars…the list goes on and on. The more you can collaborate with other people, the more people you can reach.

If you will be selling something in your presentation, perhaps you can bring on other influencers and online business owners up as affiliates to help you promote your sales webinar. Who knows? With the right affiliates, they might write blog posts and do social media promotions on your behalf without you needing to even show up!

Purchase Ads to Promote Your Event

Ad-platformsNow, this is one promotional technique that can make some entrepreneurs a little squeamish. The idea of spending money to promote an online event, and increase webinar engagement can be scary. Yes, you can easily spend hundreds if not thousands of dollars on advertising your sales webinar only to be out all the money and have no attendees to show for it. If this is the case, you will feel like you’ve wasted your time and money, and it’s because you did.

The trick is not to just purchase general ads. What you really need is hyper targeted ads. Your ads should only be displayed to your ideal customers. People that are more likely to register because they actually need what you have to offer. Facebook ads and Google ads are currently our favorite choices for running hyper targeted ads for a sales webinar right now.

These platforms can allow you to advertise to a very selective group of people. This will give you a better chance of reaching the exact individuals who are more likely not only to register for your webinar, but are also more likely to buy whatever it is you’re selling in your presentation.

Get More Signups and Increase Webinar Engagement

The great thing about using a pre-recorded sales webinar, is that it can become a consistently flowing faucet of leads for your company. One of the big problems with one and done webinars is they have all this promotion leading up to the big day, and then after it’s over there’s no more to it.

With automated webinar software, all the effort you put into promotion can keep reaping the rewards. If someone finds a link or social media post hours, days, or even weeks after the fact, they can still register and have instant or nearly instant access to your juicy presentation.

Long after your boosted ads have ended, your blog posts, guest posts, and other efforts can still be viewed and lead to more sign ups, and hopefully more sales. You can also still offer freebies and incentives to continue to increase webinar engagement, even if you’re not online at the time.
